• TSPRA will begin accepting Star Award entries for work used and produced from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

  • The deadline to enter Star Awards is Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. central time. No entries are accepted after the deadline.

  • In order to enter or have your name on an award, you must be a TSPRA member in good standing with your dues paid by October 31, 2024.

  • Please read the instructions carefully before submitting as errors made during entry could prevent an entry from receiving an award.

  • Invoices are created when you enter. Credit card payments are not accepted. You download the invoice and turn it in to your business office for payment. Payment is due by Monday, December 2, 2024 or awards are subject to forfeiture.

TSPRA uses an online submission system. We do not accept entries mailed to the office.

TSPRA’s annual Star Awards provide recognition for the outstanding education communications and projects of our members. Independent, impartial judges evaluate each work and project based on set criteria and they award Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards, as well as Best of Category, Crystal and Platinum Certificates of Merit, Crystal Commendations and the Platinum Award for an all-encompassing, year-long communications project. Judging will take place November-January.

What’s new in 2024?

The dates to begin entering and the deadline to enter have changed. Some category descriptions and judging criteria have changed. A survey question was added last year and is being included again this year asking if outside contractors or students were used in producing the piece entered. It is a required field, but it will not effect how the entry is judged.

The division ranges remain the same.

Print, Video, Electronic and Campaign categories are judged in three divisions. Divisions are based on the number of students a district, foundation, service center or organization serves as of May 1, 2024. TSPRA affiliate members who are private consultants and/or their companies that do work for a district, foundation or education association, will base their entry’s division size on the number of students served by their client.

The divisions are:

  • Under 15,000 students served
  • 15,000-40,000 students served
  • More than 40,000 students served

Crystal and Platinum categories are not judged by divisions.
