It was only a few short weeks ago that I shared with colleagues how happy I was to be moving from our summer schedules into a normal routine for both my kids and myself.
Of course, as TSPRA members know well, that "normal" routine is definitely fast and furious! Somewhere between Football Fridays, school fundraisers, student-led community service, concerts, plays, pep-rallies and more, I stop to tell myself that we are all "just keeping it real."
Whether you're taking pictures at a volleyball game or sharing the success of an employee recognized during a board meeting, it is through these small, "real" moments that each of us in TSPRA shares the message of why public education is bigger here!
Each day when I check in to Facebook and read through my Twitter feeds, I am amazed to see the ways in which my TSPRA friends and family are using their personal accounts to share the good things occurring in our schools. I have these small moments of pride, because I know that we are doing great work in public education in Texas.
Many of your colleagues and friends spread the positive message and through their work with TSPRA. The organization, through its executive team in the state office and regional leadership, works to provide us with the tools we need for continued success.
Across this great state, there are individuals in school districts just like yours who share ideas and volunteer their time and talents to help all of us continue to spread the good word about our "normal" routines.
This team has been hard at work to provide recognition to deserving communicators, to organize the Celebrate Texas Public Schools annual campaign, to provide leadership and training opportunities in our TSPRA regions and to ready the nominations for our future executive committee.
The planning team for the annual conference has listened to the membership and is soliciting speakers and securing innovative ideas and initiatives to provide the learning opportunities we need to succeed in "keeping it real."
The annual conference provides a time for all of us in the school PR and education foundation worlds to share, learn and even rejuvenate, preparing us to return to our "normal" schedules better equipped to share the good news of Texas public education.
